Frequently Asked Questions
and questions that may be asked in the future

Can I contact Martin through this site?
No, you can't. In fact, nobody knows how to contact Martin. Your best shot is probably the Rod Hall Agency in London. I've never heard of anyone getting a reaction from them, though.

Does Martin know about this site?
My guess is no, but your guess is as good as mine.

I'm from Martin's [agency] and I have a problem with the site.
I tried to contact the Rod Hall Agency for actual confirmation that a site like this one isn't unwanted, but hah, got no reply (it's been over half a year). If (anything on) this site goes against agency policy or simply isn't something Martin would want (for whatever reason) I'd be happy to respect that and take it down. Just let me know and it's done.

Why did you decide to build this site? Do you get paid?
Hah, I wish. No I'm not getting paid, I just really like webdesign, and I really like Martin's work, and I just thought it was a damn shame that people who enjoy his work are just scattered across the internet without any place to really go. Judging from the visitor numbers, people have been waiting for a site that has all the info in one place.

Have you ever met Martin?
Nope, have not.

Why doesn't this site have a forum? I have things I'd like to say.
You may have already noticed at some point, that most fan-forums get their portion of drama and I'm not really into that. Facebook groups that are dedicated to Martin leave plenty of room for discussion, but I really don't want to play cop on a forum. I have a lot of respect for the webmasters who do, because the internet doesn't always bring out the best in people.

I want to become an affiliate!
Great! Apply here.

Is Martin single?
Last time it came up in an interview (somewhere in 2008?) he was. Who knows.

How can I contact you?
You can email me at webmaster@martinmcdonagh.net

Why do I need to make an account for the gallery?
Because I don't want the access to the images to be too easy.

Why did you put your cat up as the webmaster?
Because he's cuter than I am.

[NEW] Is Martin religious?
That's a very, very difficult question for me to give any answer to. I don't know Martin, and also I have never been granted long-distance access into the workings of his mind, so I really don't want to speak for him. Religion is a complex subject, with many interpretations, personal ideas, degrees of acceptance and rejection, and it is often very personal.

In Bomb Magazine he talks about having been raised Catholic, and having been sent to Catholic school, but rejecting the religion at a certain age because he didn't agree with some points. He also mentions not going to church, so whatever he believes, he may not be what some would call a practising Christian. At the same time he mentions, I quote, "my belief in the Christ I was taught about as a child" and he also says In Bruges is about Catholic guilt. As I said I can't possibly really know, or speak for him, and that's all I can give you.
